“And I will make them and the places round about my hill a blessing; and I will cause the shower to come down in his season; there shall be showers of blessing.” (Ezekiel 34:26)
This is a prophecy from Ezekiel. There is a debate between the Jews and Christians whether this “hill” is literally Jerusalem or means Jesus. Looking at the previous declarations of this prophecy, it seems that Ezekiel is prophesying about the coming new covenant of peace brought by Jesus. “And I the LORD will be their God, and my servant David a prince among them; I the LORD have spoken it.” (Ezekiel 34:24) Actually, both may be right when one thinks on the new covenant brought by Jesus to the Jews in the Thousand Year Reign of Christ. Although it will not actually be David ruling, it will be a descendant of David, Jesus, whose reign is eternal as promised to David. “Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.” (Psalm 2:6)
This time is a time allowed and set apart for all of God’s promises to Israel and its people to be fulfilled. “As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.” (Psalm 133:3) This speaks of the blessing of eternal life given through Jesus. It’s only through the work of Jesus on the cross by which eternal life is given. Jesus will reign. It will be a work of God. There will be only blessing. Isaiah also prophesies about this time. “And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD'S house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.” (Isaiah 2:2-4) This prophesy was also prophesied by Micah in verses 1 and 2 of chapter 4.
The devil will be chained during this time and so his misery will not be present during this time on earth. (Revelation 20:1) God will cause the blessings to flow down upon the people and the land like showers. God gave the people hope in the midst of captivity and war of the blessing to come. Zechariah also prophesied about this time of blessing. “And it shall come to pass, that as ye were a curse among the heathen, O house of Judah, and house of Israel; so will I save you, and ye shall be a blessing: fear not, but let your hands be strong.” (Zechariah 8:13)
As believers of Jesus and children of God (John 1:12), Christians are the blessed of the Lord in the here and now. “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:” (Ephesians 1:3) Not only are there blessings in heavenly places, but here on earth. The blessing of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit places us in a divine place. God dwelling in us. We are so involved in this world in which we see, hear, feel and taste, that we ignore the divine aspect of our lives. We are given a little glimpse of heaven right here on earth, to be protected supernaturally (Romans 8:31), to walk in supernatural victory in every area of our lives including death (1 Corinthians 15:57), to be led of God supernaturally (Romans 8:14) and to supernaturally know things unknown to people (John 16:13). We have to decide every minute of every day whether we will walk as the supernatural people of God or as natural beings here on earth. Will we seek the divine through the Holy Spirit or walk as mere people here on earth, tossed here and there by the devil? This is the promise that was given to us. It’s the promise of a supernatural life to come when we will go to Jesus and live with Him forever.
