“and their people will say, "Let us go up the hill of the LORD, to the Temple of Israel's God. He will teach us what He wants us to do; we will walk in the paths He has chosen. For the LORD's teaching comes from Jerusalem; from Zion He speaks to His people." (Isaiah 2:3)
Isaiah is prophesying about the Millennial Reign of Christ. Isaiah begins the chapter to let us know his words come from the Lord. “Here is the message which God gave to Isaiah son of Amoz about Judah and Jerusalem:” (Isaiah 2:1) This prophesy hasn’t been fulfilled. This is what the whole nation of Israel is looking toward. It will be a time when all of God’s promises to Israel will be fulfilled. Israel will be known as the place where the Lord dwells. People from all nations will come to Israel to hear the Lord teach and to learn from Him.
The covenant they make at that time with the Lord, will not be like the former covenants they have made. They will not break this covenant. “The LORD says, "When that time comes, the people of both Israel and Judah will come weeping, looking for me, their God. They will ask the way to Zion and then go in that direction. They will make an eternal covenant with Me and never break it.” (Jeremiah 50:4-5)
Israel will be exalted among the nations. People will flock to Israel. It will be favored among the nations. “The LORD Almighty says, "The time is coming when people from many cities will come to Jerusalem. Those from one city will say to those from another, 'We are going to worship the LORD Almighty and pray for His blessing. Come with us!' Many peoples and powerful nations will come to Jerusalem to worship the LORD Almighty and to pray for His blessing. In those days ten foreigners will come to one Jew and say, 'We want to share in your destiny, because we have heard that God is with you.' " (Zechariah 8:20-23) They will come from all over the world to be taught of the Lord.
And the Lord will rule and teach all the nations. “Listen to Me, My people, listen to what I say: I give My teaching to the nations; My laws will bring them light. I will come quickly and save them; the time of My victory is near. I Myself will rule over the nations. Distant lands wait for Me to come; they wait with hope for Me to save them.” (Isaiah51:4-5)
Jesus will reign and we will reign with Him. Paul wrote to Timothy about enduring and reigning with Christ. “Because I preach the Good News, I suffer, and I am even chained like a criminal. But the word of God is not in chains, and so I endure everything for the sake of God's chosen people, in order that they too may obtain the salvation that comes through Christ Jesus and brings eternal glory. This is a true saying: "If we have died with Him, we shall also live with Him. If we continue to endure, we shall also rule with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us.” (2Timothy 2:9-12) Daniel also prophesied about God’s people reigning with Him. “The power and greatness of all the kingdoms on earth will be given to the people of the Supreme God. Their royal power will never end, and all rulers on earth will serve and obey them." (Daniel 7:27)
Peter alluded to God’s children as priests. “But you are the chosen race, the King's priests, the holy nation, God's own people, chosen to proclaim the wonderful acts of God, who called you out of darkness into His own marvelous light.” (1Peter 2:9) John in greeting the seven churches in Asia from Jesus writes: “John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from Him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before His throne; And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto Him that loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, And hath made us kings and priests unto God and His Father; to Him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. (Revelation 1:4-6 KJV) The Jewish nation is looking forward to this time of the reign of Jesus and so are we as God’s people who will reign with Him.
