LESSON 3
Eternal Life

Most people belief in another life. Unfortunately, they err if they believe they will return as another creature. The Bible clearly states that we only get this one life here on earth and then after that comes the judgement. We will come before Jesus and He will say "...Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord," as a lord tells his servant in the parable of the "Talents" (Matthew 25:23). Or He may say "...Verily I say unto you, I know you not," as the groom says to the virgins who were not prepared in the parable of the "Ten Virgins". (Matthew 25:12)
The "More Than Good News" (what Gospel means), is that the Lord desires to give you an afterlife. This is life eternal and life with Him. When our time ends on earth and we come before the Lord, there is only one thing that will determine what He will say to us. Did you believe in Jesus and what He taught? When the jailer asked Paul what he had to do to be saved, they answered what determines if we will be saved. "And they said, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved, and your household.” (Acts 16:31)
I’ve been told, “Is that all?” Yes! The Lord made it easy that even a child can believe and be saved. The reason is because when you believe then you will obey Him. “And after John was delivered up, Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom of God, and saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God draws near. Repent, and believe the gospel.” (Mark 1:14-15) Jesus said to repent. Repent means to leave your sin. If you believe in Him and believe what He said, we obey Him. We repent and leave our sin. And what we must then do is surrender to Jesus. “And He said to all, If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow Me.” (Luke 9:23) That means that we make Him our Lord. We allow Him to rule in our lives and we obey Him.
There is an illustration that depicts exactly how we want to hold on to something insignificant, our sinful life that is taking us to destruction when the Lord is promising a new life of love, joy and peace eternally with Him.
