Lesson 6
Declare Life Eternal
This is a very important Scripture. When we receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior, that means we believe on Him, we believe what He said, we believe what He did, we accept that free gift of salvation, repent from our sins and make Jesus our Lord, He gives us the RIGHT AND AUTHORITY to become a child of God. There is so much to explain. I will cover it briefly. I suggest that you study it further. What I did, since I didn’t know anything about salvation 46 years ago, but only that God had done something in my heart, I enrolled in a study by Billy Graham. There are many studies and I’ll share more of that in a later blog. For now, let’s learn what this powerful Scripture means to us.
First, the Scripture is talking about whosoever, as many as receive Him (Jesus). As stated previously, that means that you believe on Jesus. You believe that He said He is the Son of God. You believe that He died on the Cross and rose on the third day. You believe He took on our sins and suffered our punishment for sin so that we could be forgiven. You believe that He took death for us so that we could live eternally. If all that is true, you must make a proclamation, a declaration aloud. “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (Romans 10:9-10)
I specify aloud because that’s what the Scripture means in verse 10. The word “confession” there means to acknowledge and agree. But to acknowledge and agree aloud is important. Why? …because you let God’s enemy know where you now stand. Satan cannot read your mind. He doesn’t know what’s in your heart. He only goes by what you say and do. So, when you declare aloud that you have changed your loyalty, he is put on alert that you no longer have his sin nature, but have been born again. See that old sin nature died with Christ on the Cross. When Jesus rose from the dead, all past, present and future believers were reborn of God. He gave us a new heart and a new nature. We have a divine spirit that is in communication with Him through the Holy Spirit.
It may be a little difficult to understand how that happened. God follows spiritual laws which we do not know of. But know this, God followed a specific legal spiritual process to “redeem” us (buy us back from what Adam and Eve gave to the enemy of God by their disobedience). And that was the sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross.
This lesson is so important. It is crucial to eternal life or eternal death. If there is any part that you don’t understand, reread it until the Lord gives you understanding. And you can always call me or send a message.
